Integrated low and high care

Admissions

Embleton Care Facility offers residential suites for both low care (residents requiring only a small amount of assistance) and high care residents (residents requiring significant assistance).

Step 1 to Admission - Aged Care Assessment (ACAT)

The Australian government is able to assist most residents financially when they are ready to enter aged care. Aged Care Assessment Teams (ACAT) will help to assess whether you are eligible to enter an aged care facility and receive government funding. The team will be able to assess each resident as either low care or high care and will also be able to give valuable information on services in your area, including respite care. You can find out how to locate your local ACAT team by contacting the Aged Care Information Line on 1800 500 853 or by clicking here. The service is free is generally mandatory to access aged care services.

Step 2 to Admission - Assets Test

In addition to an ACAT assessment, you will be required to obtain information on your income and assets so that the government can determine how much they will contribute to the cost of care and how much should be borne by the resident and their family. You will be required to contact Centrelink to obtain these details on 1800 227 475 or Veteran Affairs on 133 254 if you are a veteran. You may choose not to submit the Centrelink assessment but you will not be eligible for government subsidies.

Step 3 to Admission - Application and Facility Visit

We invite you to make an appointment to visit the facility and discuss your individual care needs. This is best done when you have the ACAT assessment and the Centrelink so that we have an understanding of your situation and are therefore able to give you information about fees, care services and the waiting list.

During this visit, we will invite you to complete an application for residency. You can also click here to download our application form.

Fees

Residents in any aged care facility are required to make two types of payments: The first is the daily care fee, which pays for all of your daily care costs, including nursing and personal care staff, food, meals, linen, laundry and other costs. The daily care fee may include the basic fee and possibly an additional income tested fee for residents who are assessed as having a higher income. This is determined by the government.

The second type of fee is the accommodation fee. You only pay this fee if your assets are deemed to exceed those set by the Australian government during your Centrelink assessment. This payment will generally be in the form of a bond if you require low care or an accommodation charge if you require high care.

Embleton Care does not charge daily extra services fees.

Because fees change from one person to another and are dictated by government policy they can seem confusing to residents and their families. We explain all fees and charges when you visit us and we also urge you to seek additional information from the Department of Health and Ageing, Centrelink on 1800 227 475 or Veteran Affairs on 133 254. More information can also be obtained from the Aged Care Online Resource.
